The Manica Lunga in the Cini Foundation of San Giorgio Isle, in Venice, is one of the last projects of Michele De Lucchi. The place, whose realization ended in 2009, it’s been opened in January 2010. It’s the bibliotheca of the Istituto di Storia dell’Arte and it takes place in the ex Benedictine dormitory projected by Giovanni and Andrea Buora at the end of the XVth century. The place provides accommodation for 100.000 books (other 50.000 will be added in future) in the distribution’s space of the Manica Lunga that grants access to 56 monastic cells currently transformed in study areas.
