Un café in Uruguay

Amada Cafe

I was wondering through Uruguay among thousands of marvel of a landscape that was far from my imagery…looking for a tea-breakfast, I found this wonderful jewel full of European spirit but also rich of smells and colours never seen before.
Coloured wrought iron chairs, partly covered by floral fabrics, and a wooden pantry had brought to my mind the days spent with my grandmother in my country house. If you stop in Colonia del Sacramento, a little Havana, with coloured colonial Portuguese houses leaning on a bay with no horizon, with the atmosphere of a place forgotten by the world but surprising in all its details…have a break, and enter in this café.

The last time I was in Belgium, wondering through Brussels’ street, I was charmed by a shop-window…with small paperboard houses and children’s dresses. In the end, I bumped into the shop…the average age of the customers was between 3 to 5 years-old and the shop-girls believed I was a mum, interested in shopping for his son. Actually, I was so fascinated by that small objects, dresses, brooches, bags, shoes, little houses and paperboard shapes…that, when I went out, my bag was full of small purchase. Apart from being a shop for children, it’s also a creative laboratory and a party centre. If you have a small son and you want to spend a journey in that lands, or if you love to do shopping online, or if you are, as me,  simply fond of children’s shops, young designers, beautiful and small things…that’s the right place for you.

My passion for the doors was born when I was a child and I inherited it from my mother. During our walks she made me look at the doors, their colours, their materials and the way they had been built. Today I am the person who, as if I were in my mother's hand, continues to observe them totally charmed.

Fun for all ages

Sapori cioccolatosi

The story of The Mast Brothers Chocolate began in a New York apartment, where Rick and Michael Mast started processing cocoa beans with a homemade machine. Overtime they refined their creation and started sourcing beans from family farms as far as Madagascar and Ecuador. Their chocolate is now produced in a small, three room factory in Williamsburg, New York, with the same passion and care as in the very beginning. The brothers are now planning on navigating the Atlantic in order to source beans and get to know the people who grow them.

Slowpoke is a new cafe in Fitzroy, Melbourne designed by French-born, Melbourne-based designer Sasufi.
The focal point of the bright and airy interior is a 12m wall clad with off-cuts of reused timber sourced from local furniture designers. Tables are also constructed of recycled wood, this time flooring and they are complemented with classic white chairs. The space is completed with quirky touches such as vintage art and understated flower and herb arrangements in antique glassware. The character of the cafe is carried through to the last detail with even business cards being made of hand cut recycled card and signage custom made using flea market finds.
